Murder on the S. S. Aberbeen

“High society and working class converge on the S. S. Aberdeen as the ship makes stops at settlements along Okanagan Lake. It’s an absolutely leisurely experience until a body is found. …

This is the 1893 scene that awaits those attending the Death on the S. S. Aberdeen murder mystery….”* event.

S. S. Aberdeen

The S. S. Aberdeen was one of a number of lakeboats that provided transportation links for the settlements along Okanagan Lake before the turn of the century. The old S. S. Aberdeen used to make regular stops at the Rainbow Landing wharf in Okanagan Centre.

Was there really a murder on the S. S. Aberdeen? Information about the Aberdeen and other lakeboats can be found at the Lake Country Museum or in their online collections such as Lakeboats of the Okanagan and The History of Rainbow Ranche.

Tickets for Death on the S. S. Aberdeen murder mystery event, which takes place on April 28th, 2012, at the Schubert Centre in Vernon, can be purchased at the Schubert Centre (3505 30th Avenue) or by phoning 250-549-4201. Tickets are $40 each or $300 for a table of eight.
