The adult Thomson children visited their Kalamalka home on occasions for family picnics, to go hunting or to roar around Kalamalka Lake on a hydroplane. Three photos capture some of the spirit of the times.
The first is a family picnic with some of the siblings having brought the wives or friends to the lake. Note the car seats used for seating.
Thomson family picnic. From left to right, Mrs. Lake, Peter, Renie, and Eva Lake (m. to Ira), Frank, Ira, Elwood Hunter next to Roma Hunter, Harold, with the goofy look and mother Catherine Thomson.
Arnold Churchill and Harold Thomson. A good hunting day. These families relied on taking one or two deer every year for family provisions.
Charlie was very mechanically inclined, maintaining his old motorcycle (that Mac Dewar says could not make it up the church hill under its own power) and power boats. This might have been the first hydroplane in the valley.
